Wrote my own theme

At first I was using the Drupal theme "Garland" but I wanted to create my own. The result is what you see right now.

It took a lot of time to get the three-columns layout working correctly and even now I'm not completely satisfied with the behaviour when the browser window gets too small, but I don't want to spend even more time on it right now. My own design is inspired by the Garland theme but is darker. This caused a few problems because the GeSHi syntax highlighting plugin, "Nice Menus" plugin and Gallery2 system were all expecting a light background or had size problems. I needed to tweak their respective CSS files, unfortunately, because not everything could be solved by just modifying my own site CSS file.

My work is not as top-class as the Garland theme but I'm quite satisfied with the result. It took me two days of work and there are still a lot of details to improve but it's now ready to go live.

I've tested my site with Safari, Firefox and Opera and it works exactly the same on all three: all problems I know off apear on all three browsers ;-). I don't have a Windows PC so I can't test with Internet Exploder... I'm not sure whether I care for it anywayas it's the most primitive browser. Unfortunately it's still the most widely used browser AFAIK.

Browsers...

Now I managed to test with Windows as well, and here are the results:

Browser OS Result
Safari 3 Mac OS X OK
Konqueror 3.5 Linux OK
FireFox Mac OS X OK
FireFox Linux OK
Opera Mac OS X OK
Opera Linux OK
PlayStation 3 - almost OK (usable)
Internet Explorer 6 Windows Server 2003 completely broken
Internet Explorer 7 Windows XP OK

So if you're using IE 6 and the site looks funny... well, it's not my problem ;-) I've currently lent my Wii to my brother, as soon as I get it back I'll try it with the Wii as well but it's running Opera so I'm confident that it will render OK, which will leave only the PS3 and IE6 with render problems. Since all other browsers render the site correctly (and I don't have a Windows PC to test all day with) I won't fix the IE6 problems.
